The iconic Bellville Library & Art Centre is located on Carl van Aswegen Street in Bellville, off Voortrekker Road, bordering on Elizabeth Park and the Elsies Kraal River.

Established in 1989, the Public Library is combined with an Art Gallery and Art Centre, providing practical training facilities in drawing, painting, pottery, photography and other media in the respective studios and workshops.

The Art Gallery leading off the main foyer provides a variety of spaces for exhibition purposes.

The premises are also physically disabled friendly.

Pottery

Adult’s and children’s pottery classes from beginner to advanced levels, including provision of clay and other materials. Get hands on and learn how to create with clay.

Painting & Drawing

Beginner to advanced classes. Explore your creativity with a medium of your choice: pencil, charcoal, ink, pastels, oil, watercolour, acrylic, mixed media and others. Paraplegics also welcome.

Photography

Introductory course for novices and advanced course for intermediate – advanced photographers, using DSLR cameras. Small classes for personal attention, with photographic outings and a wide range of genres covered.

Children’s Art

Let your kids and teenagers discover their natural creative ability with fun art classes from grades 1 to 6 and grades 7 to 10. All materials provided.

Special Art Classes

Especially suited for people with physical disabilities using a variety of mixed media.
